AMA Research Challenge 2026 Top 65: Diarrhoea Screening at the Doorstep

This poster tests whether two WHO-defined diarrhoea questions can be added to India's Pulse Polio doorstep screening without slowing the campaign down. Volunteers screened 3,086 children aged five and under across a three-day campaign in June 2026, collecting answers on a mobile application.

  • Poster: Diarrhoea at the Doorstep: Feasibility of WHO-Defined Screening During Mass OPV Vaccination
  • Presenter: Shelja Sharma
  • Recognition: Selected in the top 65 of 1,300 posters
  • Session: AMA Research Challenge 2026 virtual poster symposium, October 13–15, 2026
  • Findings: Every caregiver answered both screening questions. 1.2% of children (38) had diarrhoea in the previous seven days and 0.3% (10) had diarrhoea on the day of screening, with no significant difference by age (p = 0.78) or location (p = 0.97).
