Rotation overview
- This clinical rotation offers a unique and unparalleled educational experience under the mentorship of a distinguished physician, who currently holds the prestigious positions of Department Chair of Medicine, Senior Medical Advisor and Associate Vice Dean at a leading U.S. Medical School. The program is designed to be an intensive, inpatient immersion, scheduled Monday through Friday during day shifts, providing an exceptional foundation in Critical Care (IM). You will gain experience at the local Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF), as well as observing at San Jose Regional Medical Center.
- Due to the high-level responsibilities and demanding schedule of our esteemed preceptor, direct interaction will be meticulously scheduled to ensure quality educational engagement. You will get a few hours per week of face time with her but keep in mind all the feedback does come back to her. This structure not only allows for meaningful direct mentorship but also offers the opportunity to engage in collaborative learning alongside fellow medical students during hospital rounds. Participants will gain exposure to critical care and palliative care within the Intensive Care Unit, focusing on comprehensive patient care strategies, including goals of care and end-of-life discussions.
- Furthermore, this rotation emphasizes a holistic approach to medical education, incorporating clinical, business, and administrative aspects of healthcare. This broadened perspective is crucial for developing well-rounded physicians equipped to navigate the complexities of the modern healthcare landscape.
- To ensure a personalized and in-depth learning experience, groups will be intentionally kept small, facilitating intimate and focused educational encounters.
