Rotation overview
- Get ready to gain valuable experience with a triple board certified physician in Pain Management, PMR and Longevity Medicine. Clinic visits are Mondays and Tuesdays, with additional sessions added throughout the week that are in-depth one to two hour sessions that are private concierge visits where you will go through the patient's cardiac care and history, as well as any metabolic care, and other risk factors that you identify. It's like primary care but on steroids, something that most students have never seen.
- The Monday visits will allow you to see and talk to new patients and present the cases to the attending physician and nurse practitioner. Three different clinics operate on this day, including arrhythmia's clinic, lifestyle medicine, and physical medicine & pain management with a component of sports medicine. On the rest of the days, you will have the in depth longevity visits mentioned above.
- Longevity research typically is tailored to students' interests, but basically comprises a mid week update with the lead researchers. And then a final week presentation to the physician on Sunday.
- There will also be weekly rounding at Seton Medical Center, and all LORs will appear on Seton Medical Center letterhead with the physician describing a clinical experience emphasizing the components relevant to their specialty application choice. For example, for internal medicine candidates, he will focus on the cardiac care and long term trach management at Seton or in the Arrhythmias clinic, as well as Lifestyle Medicine aspects. For those interested in pain, neurology, orthopedics, or PM&R, he will focus on the musculoskeletal and neurological aspects.
- Plan Ahead! Seton requires 28 days of hospital processing.
