Refund & Guarantee Policy

Several USMLE Wise programs include a specific guarantee or trial period. Because our programs differ in format — a one-time recorded course, a done-for-you editing package, or a multi-month mentorship — the guarantee attached to each one works differently. This page sets out exactly how each guarantee works and how to request a refund. This policy is part of our Terms & Conditions.

1. General Terms

Guarantees below apply per customer/household. Repeat enrollments in the same program by the same person are not eligible for a repeat guarantee.
Refunds are issued to the original payment method used at checkout.
Approved refunds are typically processed within 10 business days of approval; your bank or card issuer may take additional time to post the funds.
Fees paid to independent third parties (for example, official exam fees, application fees, or a clinical rotation site’s own charges) are never included in any refund — only amounts paid directly to USMLE Wise are covered.

2. Step 1 High-Yield Crash Course — Pass Guarantee

If you finish the recorded sessions and the required drills, sit your USMLE Step 1 exam, and do not pass, you are entitled to a full refund of the course fee.

Eligibility: you must have completed all sessions and the required drills before sitting the exam.
How to claim: email admin@usmlewise.com with your official USMLE score report within 14 days of receiving it.
Window: refund requests must be submitted within 14 days of your score report date. Requests submitted after this window are not covered by the guarantee.

3. Match Packages — First-Session Guarantee

Every Match package (LOR editing, ERAS/CV, Personal Statement, Interview Preparation, and bundled packages) includes a money-back guarantee tied to your first working session.

How it works: start with your first working session. If you feel the package isn’t the right fit, tell us before or at that first session and we will refund you in full.
After the first session: once work has proceeded past the first session, the package is no longer covered by this guarantee; any further refund request is handled case by case (see Section 5).

Match Edit Guarantee (Match Maximizer package only)

The Match Maximizer package includes a Match Edit Guarantee: if you do not match in a given cycle, we continue editing and re-strategizing your materials for as many cycles as it takes, at no extra cost. This is a guarantee of continued service, not a cash refund — the final Match decision rests with residency programs, not with us.

4. Multi-Month & Cohort Programs — Trial Periods

Research Catalyst (12-month program)

Enrollment begins with a $1,500 payment, which secures your place and covers the first 6-week trial period. The remaining program balance only becomes due after that 6-week trial, once you’ve confirmed the program is the right fit. If you decide not to continue after the trial period, you simply are not charged the remaining balance and your participation ends at that point.

Research Junior Scientist Program

Enrollment begins with a one-month trial and a deposit. If, by the end of that one-month trial, the program is not the right fit for your child, your deposit is refunded in full.

5. All Other Programs

Step 1 Mastery, NBME-Style Coaching (Step 1 & Step 2), 1:1 Tutoring, Original Research, Systematic Review/Meta-Analysis, J-1 Research Fellowship Placement, and Clinical Rotation placements do not currently have a fixed, published refund schedule. Refund requests for these programs are reviewed case by case — contact admin@usmlewise.com with your situation and our team will work with you directly.

6. How to Request a Refund

Email admin@usmlewise.com with:

Your full name and the email address used at purchase
The program or package you enrolled in
The reason for your request
Any supporting documentation required for that program’s guarantee (for example, an official score report for the Crash Course guarantee)

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Refund & Guarantee Policy from time to time, including as we add new programs or revise guarantee terms. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. The guarantee terms in effect on the date of your purchase are the ones that apply to your enrollment.
